Zoltan Kiss Consulting is a start-up family-owned biotechnological company which, in animal models, has developed a human placenta derived protein (PLAP) for two major applications. In the first application, PLAP effectively reduces excess visceral (abdominal) fat in both obese diabetic mice and non-obese mice with the promise that it will also have similar major effects in both obese and non-obese humans with “belly fat” regardless of age.
In the second program PLAP is used to reduce the loss of skeletal muscle proteins and muscle mass in various sarcopenic mouse models. In the Figure shown below, the red, yellow, and white colors indicate the shrinking muscle, the increasing amount of fatty tissue, and the bone tissue, respectively, in two types of sarcopenic older adults relevant to the company’s mouse studies.
